Minera Escondida operates responsibly to achieve sustainable development in accordance with its Health, Safety, Environment, and Community Relations (HSEC) Policy and Charter. This is reflected in the current Five-Year Plan, which defines the strategic objectives of the Company for the 2006-2010 period, where one of the priorities is to improve and strengthen sustainable development in the framework of a “Zero Harm” culture, which includes the aspects of Health, Safety, Environment, and the Community.

The Company has an integrated Health, Safety, Environment and Community management system (SIGMEL) which includes the corporate standards as well as legal requirements and international regulations such as ISO 9.001, ISO 14.001 and OSHAS 18.001.
