Escondida's cathodes are registered under the "Esox" brand on the London metals exchange and Comex

Escondida also produces copper cathodes by means of a conventional process of heap leaching, solvent extraction and electro-winning. These cathodes weigh roughly 70 kg, have a copper grade of 99.999% and are registered with the London Metals Exchange and Comex under the brand “ESOX”. Around 70% of the cathode production is sold through annual contracts with rod producers, while the remainder is sold on the spot market.

As of June 2006, Escondida also produces copper cathodes by means of an alternative process involving the bio-leach of low grade sulphides, followed by solvent extraction and electro-winning. These cathodes are also registered under the “ESOX” brand on the London Metals Exchange and Comex.
