This operation includes the processes of drilling and blasting, loading and transportation, ore crushing, and disposal of sterile material. In this process, an average of one million tonnes of material per day (tpd) is transported, with a sterile-to-ore ratio of 3:1. The average ore grade during the 2006 calendar year was 1.59% of copper.
