Low grade sulphide ore is leached through a
bacteria-assisted oxidization process

This ore, which is of marginal copper grade, is also reduced in size and deposited in heaps but in this case leaching occurs by oxidization and the presence of bacteria, in open air, and at temperatures favourable for bacteria activity. Later, the enriched solution follows the same solvent extraction and electro-winning processes as for the oxide ore.
